Buildings could be built in numerous ways. Some were tall, some were short. Some were long, and some were narrow. Some were houses, others were apartments, some were little cottages, and a select few were castles. While some buildings have pointy triangular roof, others were flat, the kind that was perfect for hanging out on to just get away from life, bask in the sun, spy on people, or talk to friends. One such place that had such a roof was Richfield Academy. Purposely made flat so the students could hang out on it, the roof was one of Lauren’s favorite places to just chill.
Typically, she hung out there with friends. Because it was an expanse of flat open space, it was such a nice place to just chill and hang out. Lauren and her friends would sit there Indian style and just talk and talk. The whole ordeal could go on for hours on end and it never got old. Additionally, while others came up there as well, because it was way up above ground level, it gave her a sense of isolation and privacy which she loved. Therefore, the roof was most definitely her favorite spot in the Academy to just hang out.
Today however, Lauren was up there on the roof alone which was just as nice as being up there with friends. With school just starting, it was her last chance to just hang out in the nice summer weather with the brilliant sun shining on her. Additionally, while Lauren animated things with a frequency often to the point of addiction, here on the roof, there was nothing, giving her a calming feeling. So with her shoes lying next to her, Lauren lay down peacefully on the roof squinting slightly because of the rays of light shining down on her. It was bright, but she could tolerate it.
As Lauren enjoyed the last of the summer, she only hoped that her summer before this could have been this good. Sadly, she had to go home where she was considered an oddity by all, and Lauren was greatly annoyed by it. The only person who didn’t think her weird was her sister Harper but that was only because Harper grew up with Lauren being like that and in her childlike innocence, viewed Harper as a toy, something she loathed almost even more then those who viewed her as odd. But for now, everything was perfect, and Lauren was willing to forget the past.
